About Us
Banakal is a small village about 12kms from Mudigere. Situated on the western banks of the Hemavathy river ,it sits upon the western Ghats.Our Homestay “Chittakigundi “at an altitude of 3500 fsl is 6kms off Banakal in the midst of dense coffee plantations which has been in the family for the past 4 generations.Ancient trees tower over the homestay as idle hills stand sentinel .And far away you can hear the murmur of distant brooks.The Homestay is an ideal, clean and comfortable base from which you can explore numerous places around.We serve malnad cuisine from recipes which have been in the family for generations.
For the religiously inclined traveller the temples of Hornad ,Sringeri and Dharmasthala beckon. And travellers for whom “Nature” is a religion the peaks of Devarmane, Ballarayanadurga and Ethina buja are all half an hour to forty five minutes drive away.Besides the scenic Charmudi Ghats is just a half hour drive.
OUR ROOMS
The property contains three rooms in total. Two large rooms with king size beds with an attached trundle and a single room
with two single beds. Each room has its own attached private bathroom.

THE SYSTEM
As a homestay we try to do everything we can to make your stay with us pleasurable. There are a few things that are worth mentioning that might be a little different from your regular hotel or resort stays.

Meals:
We take great pride in cooking delicious home cooked Malnad food. All meals are cooked onsite and we can do our best to accommodate your preferences.

Activities:
We love playing games with friends , so we've got a few games guests can play vs each other such as Dart board, Basketball Hoop, Cricket, Soccer, Shooting, Snooker, Fishing, Trekking, and a wide array of board and card Games. For those literally inclined we boast a large library with books to enjoy with the Malnad weather and coffee.

Day trips:
For all the explorers staying with us, we organise day trips to nearby tourist attractions and treks up Devaramane, Ettin Bhuja and Kuduremukha. All these peaks are a short drive away host some stunning views and makes for a great place to watch the sunset.

Bonfire/BBQ:
We can organize a bonfire for our guests at night on request . We do have a BBQ guests can use at a certain cost.

Coffee estate tour:
Since our homestay is located on a 100 acre coffee estate, you can freely walk around and explore the estate, the manager can give you a guided tour of how the plants are grown and how the coffee is picked . If you visit during coffee picking time (Dec-Jan), you can help pick coffee straight off the plant.

Situated about 16kms from the homestay Devarmane literally meaning “Abode of the Gods” is a series of hills offering treks for the keen traveller .It boasts of panoramic views of the Western Ghats and the distant coast.A relatively small climb to the peak.
